Hearts, Leprechauns, and Tricks

Since I'm so far behind on blogging I decided to to a joint post for Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, and April Fools. Since the weather is still usually cold during these holidays and we are trying to break up the day and do something fun, I like to go all out for these little holidays and make it a fun day for the kids. Here's a break down of what we did:

Heart Day:
-Kids woke up to their doors "heart attacked" and a kitchen decorated for the event.
-They got some treats and little toys
-We did a Valentines Breakfast of love potion smoothies, heart shaped homemade hot pockets, and heart pancakes with strawberry sauce. Yum!
-We went and saw Gnomeo and Juliet after breakfast, came home and had naps.
-That night Chris took me out to Outback while Lisa and her friends had a I Hate Valentine's Day girl's party and watched the kiddos for me.
-We came home and watched the movie Valentine's day

St. Patty's Day:
-The night before the kids set their shoes out to see if they got lucky and a leprechaun left them a treat the next morning.
-Turns out they got a "pot of gold" with a rainbow AND their doors decorated.
-Came out to a kitchen decorated for the day and a green breakfast.
-Wore green, had a green lunch.
-After naps, Dawson woke up to a sneaky trouble maker leprechaun who left foot prints on the walls. We gave him a net and he followed it trying to catch him. The trail followed outside where there was a path of shamrocks that led to the fence door. He escaped this time but next year we will get him...
-For dinner we did the traditional corn beef, cabbage, carrots, and potatoes with rainbow jello for dessert.

April Fools:
- Didn't do a ton, but made "peas and carrots" cupcakes for dessert.
-Told Dawson if he ate dinner good he would get a special treat. When I gave him his "peas and carrots" he was heart broken and almost started to cry!
-Convinced him to finally tried it and said "April Fools!" it's starburst! He thought it was pretty funny. Emerson wasn't fazed and dived right in and chowed it.

You are so clever! I'm definitely going to be stealing some of these ideas.
